Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2025

Welcome to House of Travel Adventures, your trusted partner for safaris, tours, and adventure travel in Tanzania. These Terms & Conditions set out the agreement between you, the traveler, and House of Travel Adventures. By making a booking, paying a deposit, or using our travel services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Booking & Confirmation

  • All safari, tour, accommodation, and travel bookings are subject to availability at the time of booking.
  • A booking is considered confirmed once House of Travel Adventures has provided written confirmation and received the required deposit.
  • We reserve the right to decline or cancel a booking where necessary, subject to applicable terms and payment conditions.
  • The itinerary and services included in your booking will be specified in your booking confirmation or travel proposal.

2. Deposits & Payments

  • A 30% non-refundable deposit is required to secure a booking unless otherwise stated in your quotation.
  • The remaining balance is generally due 45–60 days before the scheduled arrival date.
  • For last-minute bookings, full payment may be required immediately.
  • Payments may be made through bank transfer or other payment methods approved by House of Travel Adventures.
  • If the balance is not received by the specified due date, we may treat the booking as cancelled and apply the applicable cancellation charges.
  • Certain services, including flights, permits, special activities, and selected accommodations, may have different payment conditions.

3. Cancellations & Refund Policy

All cancellations must be submitted to House of Travel Adventures in writing.

Unless otherwise stated in your booking confirmation, the following standard cancellation charges may apply:

  • 60 or more days before travel: Deposit retained
  • 30–59 days before travel: 50% of total booking cost
  • 15–29 days before travel: 75% of total booking cost
  • Less than 15 days before travel: 100% of total booking cost

Certain services may be subject to stricter cancellation policies.

Important:

  • Gorilla permits, domestic or international flights, park permits, and certain accommodation bookings may be strictly non-refundable.
  • Refunds are subject to the cancellation and refund policies of the relevant suppliers.
  • Where a supplier retains part or all of a payment, House of Travel Adventures may be unable to provide a refund for that amount.
  • Any applicable refund will be processed after deductions for non-refundable services, supplier charges, and applicable administrative costs.

4. Changes Requested by the Traveler

  • Requests to change an itinerary after confirmation must be made in writing.
  • Changes are subject to availability and the terms of the relevant suppliers.
  • Additional costs resulting from changes, including accommodation, transportation, flights, permits, or activity fees, will be payable by the traveler.
  • Where changes result in a reduction in the value of the original booking, any refund will be subject to supplier policies and our cancellation terms.

5. Changes by House of Travel Adventures

We make every reasonable effort to operate your safari or tour according to the confirmed itinerary. However, changes may occasionally be necessary due to circumstances including:

  • Weather conditions
  • Wildlife movements
  • Road or infrastructure conditions
  • Park regulations
  • Safety considerations
  • Changes in accommodation availability
  • Flight schedules or cancellations
  • Government requirements
  • Other circumstances beyond our reasonable control

Where a change is necessary, we will make reasonable efforts to provide a suitable alternative of comparable value and quality.

6. Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for all travelers.

Your insurance should ideally cover:

  • Medical emergencies
  • Emergency evacuation
  • Trip cancellation or interruption
  • Flight delays or missed connections
  • Lost, stolen, or damaged baggage
  • Personal liability
  • Other risks associated with international travel and safari activities

House of Travel Adventures is not responsible for costs or losses that could reasonably be covered by appropriate travel insurance.

7. Passports, Visas & Travel Documents

Travelers are responsible for ensuring that they have all required travel documents.

This includes:

  • A valid passport, generally with at least six months’ validity beyond the intended travel period
  • Required visas and entry permits
  • Appropriate vaccinations or health documentation where required
  • Any other documents required by immigration, airlines, parks, or local authorities

House of Travel Adventures may provide general travel information and guidance, but the final responsibility for meeting entry and travel requirements rests with the traveler.

8. Health & Medical Requirements

Travelers must inform House of Travel Adventures of any relevant medical conditions, mobility limitations, allergies, dietary requirements, or other special needs that may affect their travel arrangements.

This information helps us plan appropriate accommodation, transportation, activities, and support.

Travelers are responsible for ensuring that they are medically fit for the activities included in their itinerary and should seek professional medical advice where appropriate.

9. Liability

House of Travel Adventures works with independent suppliers and service providers, including hotels, lodges, airlines, transportation companies, guides, park authorities, and activity operators.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, House of Travel Adventures is not responsible for losses, delays, injury, damage, cancellation, or additional expenses arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including:

  • Flight delays or cancellations
  • Weather conditions
  • Natural disasters
  • Wildlife-related incidents
  • Road or transportation conditions
  • Government actions or restrictions
  • Political or civil disturbances
  • Strikes or industrial action
  • Changes in park regulations
  • Supplier failures
  • Force majeure events

Safari and adventure activities involve inherent risks, including travel in remote areas and encounters with wildlife. Travelers participate in such activities at their own risk and must follow all safety instructions provided by guides and service providers.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful under applicable law.

10. Guest Conduct

For the safety and enjoyment of all travelers, guests are expected to:

  • Follow the instructions of their safari guide and activity leaders
  • Respect wildlife and maintain appropriate distances from animals
  • Follow national park and conservation-area regulations
  • Respect local communities, cultures, and traditions
  • Comply with applicable Tanzanian laws
  • Behave responsibly toward other guests and staff

We reserve the right to terminate a guest’s participation in a tour or safari where their conduct creates a serious safety risk, damages property, violates local laws, or significantly disrupts the experience of other travelers. Additional costs resulting from such termination will be the responsibility of the traveler, and refunds may not be available.

11. Pricing & Surcharges

Safari and tour prices are based on the costs and supplier rates available at the time of quotation.

Prices may be affected by changes in:

  • Government taxes
  • Park and conservation fees
  • Accommodation rates
  • Airline or transportation costs
  • Currency exchange rates
  • Fuel costs
  • Government regulations or mandatory charges

Once a booking has been confirmed and paid for, we will generally honor the confirmed price. However, mandatory government taxes, park fees, levies, or other compulsory charges introduced after confirmation may be payable by the traveler.

12. Complaints & Claims

If you experience a problem during your safari or tour, please inform your guide, representative, or House of Travel Adventures as soon as possible.

We will make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue while you are traveling.

If the matter cannot be resolved during the trip, formal complaints should be submitted to us in writing as soon as reasonably possible and, where possible, within 14 days of completing the trip.

Providing prompt notice allows us and our suppliers the opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter effectively.

13. Acceptance of Terms

Payment of a deposit or full payment for a booking constitutes confirmation that you have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions should be read together with your quotation, booking confirmation, itinerary, and any specific terms communicated to you before or at the time of booking.

Where specific booking conditions differ from these general Terms & Conditions, the specific conditions stated in your booking confirmation may apply.
