This 2-day safari is ideal for travelers who want to experience two of Tanzania’s most spectacular wildlife destinations in a short time. Explore the elephant-rich landscapes of Tarangire National Park and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, home to an impressive concentration of wildlife and predators.
After an early breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up from your hotel in Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park. Once inside the park, enjoy a game drive through landscapes dotted with ancient baobab trees and seasonal wetlands, where elephants, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, buffalo and other wildlife can be spotted. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the day before continuing your game drive. In the late afternoon, leave the park and head to your campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, travel to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend more than 600 meters into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. The crater’s permanent water sources support abundant wildlife, including wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, hippos, elephants and warthogs. Keep an eye out for predators such as lions, hyenas, jackals and, with some luck, elusive leopards. Visit Lake Magadi, a shallow alkaline lake often surrounded by flamingos and other water birds. After the game drive, ascend from the crater and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon.
